I found these massive seed pods on a tree here in the Oklahoma City area and had to grab a couple to see what they had inside. I had never seen such massive shells. These measure about 4" long by 2" wide.  And in most tree "pods" I have found here in Oklahoma, I have found a soft shell.  These however have a hard outer shell. Very tough exterior.  Of course once I got home I had to find out what I had retrieved. Let's just say I am glad I did not get the munchies on the way home and decide to eat my new found pods.  They are actually from a Kentucky Coffee Tree and are actually quite poisonous. The pulp and pod is rumored to be edible if cooked or preserved, thought to resemble tamarind.  But in its raw form it is poisonous.  I would have to do more research before I would consider attempting to enjoy this "delicacy". I am still curious to open the pods up and take a look at the seeds, but I think I will put on some gloves for that one.  In the meantime, enjoy the images (I could not decide which I preferred so please feel free to leave comments). I have another I may post soon.
